St Leonard's Hospice

St Leonard’s Hospice is much more than a place of care and respite. It’s a much loved part of the lives of so many people, from families and patients, to staff, volunteers and fundraisers. So we were honoured to be commissioned to build a brand new home for St Leonard’s online.

The St Leonard’s team conveyed a real passion and warmth for their work, which gave us a fantastic starting point for tone, style and structure. That accessibility and honesty informed the story we told through copy, optimised for SEO so a wider audience could discover the Hospice. We also restructured and reworked existing content, from service descriptions to patient stories, and introduced an easily navigable structure which got users to where they needed to be quickly. A WordPress CMS allowed for new and existing content to be easily edited by staff, with page creation functionality for blogs, events and tributes. Migration was taken care of via URL restructuring for standardisation.

The site wasn’t all about content though – functionality was vital in encouraging funding and support. More frequent and prominent donation CTAs were introduced, supported by a secure financial management system in the backend that captured a variety of donations and produced automated reports. The site was also linked with Ticket Tailor API to allow for event functionality, and to WooCommerce for vital product sales – wool and Christmas cards are both big earners.

 

The result was a website St Leonard’s, and ilk, are rightfully proud of – a complex build, but one well worth the effort.
