Putting Leeds on the (interactive) map.
Our ongoing work with Conference Leeds covers all sorts of innovative ways to shout about our home city, and the conferencing sector specifically. One successful example is the introduction of a bespoke interactive map, developed to add to a fresh website build also undertaken by ilk.
Their site already featured an integrated Venue Directory API, with one core data source updatable by venue owners. The new map was created on Mapbox, designed to highlight key areas of the city - colour coded for venue type, from sport to heritage. By linking the map back to the directory API, we avoided outdated content.
This useful new asset was linked through clear CTAs across the site, and our comms team went to work selling in a press release to trade and business titles. It’s now forming a key part of the organisation’s ‘Explore Leeds’ campaign on social, with 17 individual video assets supporting venues across the city. Further activity will feature downloadable PDF guides for organisers when visiting the city, proving a digital asset like this one can be worth much more than a few lines of code on a website.
