Beyond the Brief: How Our Designer’s Passion Colours the Community.

Beyond the brief: how our designer’s passion colours the community.

There’s a vibrant new mural bringing a burst of colour to the Pudsey high street, and we’re proud to say it was created by our very own designer, Becca Jones.

While Becca spends her days at ilk bringing exciting brands, captivating social content, and innovative packaging to life, her creativity doesn’t stop when the workday ends. Outside the office, Becca runs her own online shop, Bone Idol Store, where she sells handmade prints and products inspired by life’s little moments. It was through this personal passion project that she was commissioned by local independent business The Cheesy Living Co to decorate their new Pudsey location with a truly “tasty” mural.

The Creative Process: A Shared DNA.

The mural is a fantastic example of the creative thinking we foster at ilk. The process Becca followed for this personal commission is a mirror of the one we use for our clients every day:

Discovery:

Becca started by researching The Cheesy Living Co, diving into what makes them unique to ensure the design truly reflected their brand.

Ideation:

She then sketched initial ideas, exploring various concepts that would best capture the business’s identity.

Refinement:

After presenting the client with the strongest concepts, Becca refined the chosen design based on their feedback, ensuring every detail was perfect.

Finalisation:

With the client’s approval, she brought the final piece to life, transforming the wall into a beautiful work of art.

This project isn’t just a mural; it’s a testament to the talent and dedication that ilksters bring to everything they do, whether it’s for a client or for their own creative pursuits.

At ilk, we believe that true creativity isn’t confined to business hours. It’s a way of thinking that inspires and motivates our team both in and out of the studio. Supporting our team’s personal passions, like Becca’s, not only celebrates their incredible skills but also enriches our community and strengthens the creative culture we’re so proud of.

Becca had this to say about the experience:

“As a designer, I am passionate about my work, but I believe that a great way to keep my creativity fresh and evolving is to mix things up. My online shop, Bone Idol, allows me to do just that and provided the opportunity to collaborate with The Cheesy Living Co. . The mural project was the perfect outlet to push my creativity by working on a larger scale with a less used medium.”
