ITV’s makeover, a nudist restaurant and an unexpected star at the Golden Globes

As the Brexit drama continues and Heathrow Airport is temporarily shut down due to a reported drone sighting (again!), here are five more things that sum up the week that was…

You’ve Been Served

It was the much anticipated Golden Globes on Monday, one of the biggest nights of the year in the entertainment industry. But whilst Rami Malek and Olivia Coleman were bagging awards, all eyes were on an unsuspected star – the Fiji Water girl.

The luxury water promo model managed to photobomb a whole host of high profile celebrities including Jim Carrey, Dakota Fanning, Luke Evans and Idris Elba during her time on the red carpet.

Within mere hours, the internet had turned her into a meme, and even created a parody twitter account for the cheeky photo bomber.

She may not have won a Golden Globe, but she’s won our hearts.

ITV’s Bold New Project

After almost six years, ITV has announced its bold on-screen revamp, with idents that will change every week of 2019. Yep, that’s right. 52 weeks and 52 different designs. Quite the makeover.

Every week, ITV will be appointing a different artist from a diverse range of backgrounds and disciplines to produce their unique interpretation of the ITV logo. Each piece will then be filmed and transformed into a set of idents by ITV’s in-house creative agency.

BBC2’s recent attempt at collaboration with independent illustrators was met with mixed reviews, so it’ll be interesting to see how their rival channel shapes up.

Paris’ First Nudist Restaurant is Closing its Doors

Over in France, the capital city’s first and only nudist restaurant, O’Naturel, has been forced to close down due to a lack of business.

But whilst France has more than 2.7 million people who consider themselves to be naturists (each to their own), the restaurant has admitted that it just can’t get enough customers to keep its doors open.

…It turns out the customers were barely there.

More Dancing Politicians

But this time it’s not Theresa May!

In an attempt to humiliate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, America’s youngest ever Congresswoman, a video was released on Twitter by an anonymous conservative user of AOC (as she’s known by supporters) dancing in college.

The tweet – since deleted – read ‘Here is America’s favorite commie know-it-all acting like the clueless nitwit she is’.

But the intention to embarrass Ocasio-Cortez has backfired spectacularly, prompting a huge stream of online support for the young Congresswoman.

To show she still has that sense of humour, Ocasio-Cortez has since posted a brand new clip of herself dancing outside her new congressional office.

Now perhaps she can come and teach our Prime Minister some moves…

And finally…

Greetings Earthlings

Mysterious repeated radio signals coming from far away galaxy have been reported by scientists.

Among the 13 fast radio bursts, known as FRBs, was a very unusual repeating signal coming from the same source approximately 1.5 BILLION light years away.

Such an event has only been reported once before, by a different telescope.

The exact cause of the radio signals is still unknown, but of course many theories have been proposed. They range from a neutron star with a strong magnetic field spinning rapidly, to two neutron stars merging together, to some form of alien spaceship.

If you ask us, we like the alien theory best…
