This International Women’s Day (IWD), it’s all about girl power! We’ve got an all-female playlist on the go in the office and we’ve also been on the lookout for some inspiring campaigns that are helping to champion women and celebrate their fabulous contribution to society. The theme for this year’s IWD is #BeBoldForChange and we think these great campaigns certainly fit that bill. Enjoy!
‘Woman Interrupted’ App – BETC Sao Paolo
This new app from Brazilian agency BETC Sao Paolo tracks male and female voices in a conversation to help illustrate ‘manterruption’ or the tendency of men to interrupt women while they are talking. Inspired by Donald Trump’s 51 interruptions of Hillary Clinton during the first presidential debate, the app uses your smartphone microphone to help alert men when to shut the hell up!
A twitter account and blog, womens art celebrates the creative talents of female artists. Posting every day, the account gives greater visibility to the colourful, vivid and wonderful artwork of women! Give the account a follow and enjoy this expert curation of great art.

‘United By Half’ – United Colors of Benetton
United Colors of Benetton have addressed inequality for women in India. In a video campaign that challenges stereotypes of women, the Italian fashion brand makes the case for equal pay and the need to “think, talk and act in ways that support the empowerment of women.” We couldn’t agree more!
Google’s Doodle for International Women’s Day is a great tribute to the under-represented stories of female pioneers and trailblazers! Featuring thirteen women from diverse backgrounds who have all made a big impact in their respective areas of work, the Doodle features the likes of Lotifa El Nadi, Olga Skorokhodova and Lee Tai-young. Check it out while you’re Googling those names!
‘This Girl Can’ – Sport England and FCB Inferno
With a scarily large gender gap in UK sports participation, Sport England sought to challenge the fear of judgement that stops too many women and girls from joining in. With the help of creative agency FCB Inferno, this epic campaign was born! Telling the awesome story of ordinary women getting active, This Girl Can has inspired an estimated 1.6 million women to start exercising! Impressive stuff!
